What happened
The memory sarcophagus on Gharros holds a problem more complex than the Doctor’s initial recollection of burying the Master. Remnants across locations threaten identity, while MINO is restored from a backup in smartwatch hologram form. That development does not rewrite the loss experienced in Book 13.
Where the book leaves us
The Doctor and Raven confront guilt and release the last shard involved in this encounter. Memorial visits to Talmyra VI, a sealed door on Gallifrey and Orlen Sodek’s grave extend the book’s attention to other lives the Doctor could not save. The ending carries grief forward. It should not be read as a guarantee that the Master can never appear again.
