What happened
A deposit made after the Doctor left Della has left a Remanent troubling the House and its residents. Della’s testimony and the Doctor’s honest acknowledgement allow the central disturbance to resolve. Fen, Sable and Callum remain people with their own work and unfinished recoveries.
Where the book leaves us
On Serantha, the crew take time to rest. The Doctor writes without leaving out the inconvenient parts; Raven proposes the Arcturan worlds. Back in Mnem, Callum is not ready for everything but can begin by writing to Fen. The House rests, while repair continues at a human pace.
