The opening situation
The travellers investigate structures on Vorath whose writing depends on conditions and the observer. Their work leads towards temporal folds where familiar causality no longer provides a comfortable guide. This follows directly from the relationships and consequences of Book 20; it is a new investigation, not a reset.
