In the opening of The Hong Kong Chronicle, Roxi punctures the weight of the Doctor’s reflections with direct questions and irreverent humour. She wants to know what their last experience actually means: whether they won, lost, or have brought another problem home.
Making the explanation answerable
When MINO describes anomalies through technical classifications, Roxi asks for plain language. The answer brings the conversation back to people being forgotten. Her question changes what the room is attending to, turning an abstract disturbance into a human concern.
An ensemble, not a fixed passenger list
These profiles introduce significant figures across the saga. They do not imply that every character travels in every book. Roxi’s exchanges with Raven, the Doctor and MINO in The Hong Kong Chronicle show one particular ensemble at work; the later books establish their own company and circumstances.

Notice what her humour allows someone else to admit, and when a seemingly casual question exposes the weak point in an explanation. Those moments give the scene another pace and prevent the Doctor’s view from becoming the only available one.
