The Unified Doctor

An experienced traveller whose greatest difficulty is deciding what experience entitles him to do.

The Unified Doctor

The person behind the name

He carries the instincts of many lives within a single identity. Curiosity, severity, tenderness and mischief can all shape a decision. Unification makes their consequences his to own. It does not supply a perfect answer whenever the universe becomes difficult.

How to recognise him

The published profile favours worn practical clothes, a notebook, a pocket watch and small physical tools. Listening and observation matter to him. He notices who has been left outside a conversation and what an official account has failed to record. His humour can make a frightening room easier to inhabit.

Where confidence becomes a problem

His breadth of memory can overload him. A familiar pattern can invite a premature conclusion. He needs companions who can challenge his account of events, and people whose present lives resist being reduced to examples from his past. He remains responsible for mistakes made with good intentions.

A question to carry into the books

When he sees a way to help, does he also see who must consent? This is one useful lens for reading his choices, especially in the Vareth story. The answer has to be earned through the action rather than assumed from his reputation.
