The opening situation
The journey towards the Arcturan quadrant is interrupted by a Probability Engine whose signature is connected to Raven. Competing interests turn a person into an object of strategy. This long adventure follows the relationships behind the calculations, asking who has the right to decide what another life is for.

Separate possible futures from obligations. The scale of a proposed rescue does not erase the need for the people involved to understand and choose.
