The opening situation
Florence in March 1348 confronts the Doctor with a catastrophe he cannot simply undo. A distinct threat to memory complicates the crisis, but does not explain away the natural plague. Later, another setting tests what happens when vulnerable people are forgotten. The adventure asks what help can mean when it cannot mean saving everyone.

A question to carry into the story
Keep the historical disaster separate from the speculative threat. The book makes remembering people an action with consequences, not just an expression of sympathy.
